Season’s Greetings
Another year has come and gone and we are in the midst of the hectic holiday
season again. In 2000 we have been fortunate to be able to visit with most of
our relatives. The ones we didn’t get a chance to see all reside in the
eastern part of the country.
Home Improvement
Early this spring we decided to spend our tax refund on new appliances for
our kitchen. It was decided that a new coat of paint for the walls was also in
order. The word went out and one weekend Kaj’s parents (Paul and Marlene),
Loralee’s parents (Curt and Nancy), Loralee’s Uncle Les and Grandma Leona
Himes came to help. With all this help the kitchen was done in no time. The
walls were not only painted but a border stenciled near the ceiling by Marlene
and the woodwork polished by Nancy. Many thanks to our family! Your help made
our new kitchen even more enjoyable, because it reminds us of you.
On the Road Again
We enjoyed some fun vacations this year, including our annual trip to Tyler
for the Petersen family reunion, followed by stops in Mayville ND (to see the
Heftas) and in Wanaska, MN (to see the Bill Petersens). We also went to
Barneveld, WI for Kim and Mike’s Great Grandma Moyer’s 90th birthday party.
One weekend in July was spent at “Family Camp” at Imago Dei, one of the
Crossroads Lutheran camps in Wisconsin. We had a great time and plan to go back
again next year. Our family highly recommends it to your family.
Kaj
This year Kaj made a change that wasn’t so
much a change. He accepted a position with Agrilink foods, where he had been
working as a consultant for almost three years. Employers changed but the job is
pretty much the same. He enjoys working at, and now for, Agrilink.
Kaj is still on the church council, but he has retired from being council
president (which has helped his migraines immensely) He has worked hard on his
genealogy research and is happy with his progress on this immense undertaking.
Loralee
With all the children at school all day
Loralee is enjoying some peace and quiet in a house that isn’t messed up 5
seconds after she cleans it. She’s keeping busy though with Sunday School,
volunteering at the library and her writing. This month she returns to her job
of editing the county’s Birth to Three Newsletter.
Michael
Mike is in the 7th grade, his second year
of middle school. Middle school was a big change for him but he seems to have
caught his stride this year, bringing home all A’s and B’s on his report
card. He’s still an all around sports fan, playing baseball, football and
basketball. He was catcher again for his baseball team this year - a position he
really enjoys. Mike is still playing trombone in the school band and will be
picking up choir next semester. He also started confirmation class this fall. No
need to ask what Mike does in his spare time. He doesn’t have any.
kimberly
We have another budding muscian in our
family. Kim is continuing in the school choir and in dance class. Recently she
started piano lessons as well. Kim’s in the fifth grade this year, which means
she’ll be moving up to the middle school next year. Her grades remain high and
in her spare time Kim collects stickers, plays girls’ after school sports, and
helps Mom out A LOT. She is also a big, big Harry Potter fan. She read “Harry
Potter and the Goblet of Fire” which is over 700 pages in 2 1/2 weeks.
Stephanie
Stevie is really growing up. She started
first grade this year. She is reading very well and adding and subtracting, too!
She also worked very hard at learning to ride her bike this summer and can now
go around the block all by herself! She started dance class this fall and is on
the waiting list for piano lessons. Stevie is our wild child and would be
outside all the time if she could. She loves fairy tales and movies such as “Star
Wars“, “Annie” and “Return to Oz“.
trinity
Trinity is in full day kindergarten this
year and is having lots of fun. She is not keeping up with the rest of the class
but she is making progress on learning her shapes, colors, numbers, and
alphabet. She is a big help for Mom around the house and can set the table all
by herself (if a taller person gets the dishes down for her). She also likes to
help sort and put away laundry. Trinity took swimming lessons this summer. She
loves the Rugrats and VeggieTales.
little bit and bear
They may not be kings of the jungle but they believe that they’re the
Queens of the Household. Little Bit, our short-haired tortoise shell cat has
been a part of our family for three years now. Bear was given to us this fall by
a friend who couldn’t take her with her family when they moved. Bear is about
a year old, still very kittenish and full of mischief. Her hobby seems to be
shredding paper so we have to keep those school papers picked up. Little Bit is
enjoying having a companion and they love to chase each other around the house.
Other than a little squabbling over the softest napping spots the two cats get
along very well and complete our household.
Best Wishes,
From our family to yours…
Kaj, Loralee, Michael, Kimberly,
Stephanie and Trinity
